Really Not My Day

I goofed it up again. Another disastrous school spelling bee. I felt ready and confident, even 7th grade words but not 8th grade. I believed I had learned my lesson from last year, slow down. If you haven't guessed yet, I failed. I went up for my first word. There I looked at the crowd. Then I panicked. I felt nervous and flunked another spelling bee, yet again. "Limited." "Uh, limited. L-i-m-e-t-e-d. Limited." As the saying goes, if  at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I hope this doesn't happen thrice. I'm going for it again next year.
My luck still wasn't changing. Later in the day, a friend tried to hand me a piece of paper when he accidentally poked me in the eye with the corner of it. I had to go to the nurse's office and get some ice. The nurse told me I should tell my parents if my eye started to itch because I may have scratched my eye. Then I had to try to type with one hand while my other hand held the ice pack or only have one eye open. This really was not my day.
I hope all you dog lovers have better luck than me. I could really use a laugh. I hope you all enjoy this great video about a stubborn husky.

  1. I did a theatrical performance about puns. Really it was just a play on words.

I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. It's impossible to put down.

The other day I held the door open for a clown. I thought it was a nice jester.

To write with a broken pencil is pointless.

I used to have a fear of hurdles, but I got over it.

Way too many negative words up there, Mr. Ian! You did your best and the nerves flustered you - so what? It happens to everyone.

I hope your eye is ok! You're going to need it for May 16... ^_^

  2. Wow, sometimes life does give us a poke in the eye, but yours was literal! The good part is that we get to read your great blog post about it and watch a very entertaining video. Glad to hear you are going to stick with the spelling bee. Jane

  5. You might have had a bad day - but failed - I don't think so! You have skills that impress me to pieces and I admire that you are always trying things and putting yourself out there to get involved. As a teacher - that makes my day to see young people like you. Sometimes our nerves get the best of us, I know I can talk to an auditorium of students - put me in front of a room full of adults and it isn't always pretty. Hope your eye is better and you give yourself a pat on the back because you are an awesome young man that puts a blog out that I just LOVE to read - it makes my day. :) Chris Clawson
