Lizzie's another year older. Twelve or six, I don't know. Her records say she is turning 12 but she acts more like six years old. Anyway, we were able to celebrate Lizzie's birthday. She and her fellow packmates finally had the chance to have some ice cream! Hoover and Lizzie gobbled it up. Nikita took her time and savored the ice cream while the other dogs watched in anticipation. Lizzie's present was a stuffed soccer ball. I don't think it will see dawn. Lizzie has been chewing it since she first saw it. Even Hoover is waiting for the perfect time to seize the toy. It is nice to have Lizzie's joyous barks. I'm glad we decided to adopt her.
But on other news, I have a sled dog act of heroism. This will be a new honor I give out to people or animals who show their love for others. So, back to the story. A pair of dog owners traveled over three states and 15 hours to rescue two old hound dogs. In a snowstorm I might add. They are great people and one of them is a great musician. He even wrote a wonderful song about his own dogs. I met them at a fabulous restaurant that is wonderful to just go in. I would like to give them the sled dog honor of the week! You are awesome Darra and Richard.
Well, Happy Belated Birthday Miss Lizzie! I am wondering if the soccer ball has any stuffing in it? Wonder why they love to pull it out? Yay for Darra and Richard and added stars that they traveled through a snowstorm! When you visit the shelter check on Baloo. He is a senior husky who is a love. He simply walked beside me when I took him to the back field to play. He has my heart but I wish a quiet family would adopt him. When do you begin soccer again? Any big school projects in the future? The girls and I are loving these temps so we walk as much as we can. We don't do too well in the summer heat so we must enjoy all the walks we can now!
