Puppies!

Hello to all you animal lovers. This blog will be a short one. These next two weeks I'm going to be busy working on a project. Last year I also gave a post like this. I was making my own settlement in Indiana. This year I'm working on a colony.
The name of my colony is Mattville. Any other information shall be shared on my next post. I'll tell you something though. I am attempting to go above and beyond on this project. The more content the merrier!
Now it's time for the Acts of Kindness award. Northern Lights has seven new puppies! They're adorable yet they are a handful. This award goes to the woman taking care of those pups. Keep it up! Hoover was born in rescue, he and his 11 siblings were called the "Dirty Dozen." I wonder if these pups have a nickname? The mom and puppies will be available for adoption.
As I leave, I ask you a question to dwell on: does your dog feel shameful? I'm not so sure about Nikita.

Wild Wes

Wild Westley, strong enough to take an Ian down.  Mum and I were venturing to the animal shelter on Sunday to see the husky Baloo. We had found him and were deciding on whether to take him outside in the snow or not. Then, a volunteer came forth and told us Baloo was going to be adopted that afternoon! The new owners were even filling out papers.
So, we decided to take Westley out, a Sheperd mix who was a year old. Big mistake. This was my Mum's bright idea. We took Wes out to an enclosure. Unfortunately, it was a smaller one.
As soon as we got in the enclosure, Wes took off like a kid on Christmas morning. He enjoyed going after me. Westley would go for my ankles and I came crashing to the ground with Westley jumping on me. This happened more than once. I was covered in snow. Mom couldn't take a picture for she was crying so hard from laughing.
Wes was also a showoff. Westley found a tennis ball and wouldn't let a soul get it. He even went after my ankles with it! Westley is a very exuberant young dog that is going to need a VERY large yard. He is a friendly chap!
Here in Indiana, we got a good amount of snow over the weekend. Enough to go sledding! I even got to practice my skeleton. This video will tell you how well I did. It's not as easy as it looks.
And there was enough snow for the dogs to go on a walk. Lizzie was her usual bossy self, Hoover with his own happy grin, and Nikita, was surprisingly nimble that day. A sight to see.

And this  weeks Acts of Kindness award goes to Gus Kenworthy. This skier will not only bring home silver, but also some puppies. I'm a little late with the news, I'm sure you have heard of him by now. Gus has inspired other Olympians to adopt stray dogs. Even they may inspire others to adopt. There are plenty of cats and dogs that need homes.

A Blog Full of Dogs

If you haven't read the title yet, this post will be filled with dogs and one small mishap that hurts to this day. We decided to go to a dog show. The event was quite enjoyable. I for one felt quite overwhelmed. "Dachshund! Newfoundland! Akita! Greyhounds!" I did this most of the time.
Dogs were plentiful, and booth's numerous. There were dogs Nikita could swallow and some who could look down on Hoover. The dog show was somewhat exciting (talking action).

Along the way we stumbled into the Northern Lights group with some adopted sled dogs. That was probably my favorite area. I got to meet Lucy, a great wooly like Sebastian (A previous foster). She was all tuckered out yet still liked to be stroked. She had friends who had been adopted like her. Allie, Axle, Caesar, and Mishka were their names.
And the dog show had some hilarious moments too. There was a poodle who didn't like his appearance. I wonder how many dogs snickered at him whilst passing by. I did kind of feel bad for the poodle. And a dog show winner gloated by rolling on the rug and showing his underbelly.
Now for the embarrassing part. We arrived at soccer earlier in the day. I got out of the car and was walking out of the parking lot when I slipped on some ice for I was wearing cleats. I fell on my bottom and cushioned my fall by using my elbow as leverage. I jumped up, hopped around, and fell on the ground again. Yet I was still able to play a game of soccer. I still have a sore bottom and elbow but I'll pull through.
And to add to all this fun, it snowed! Check out our video to see how much fun we had. And to clarify something in the video, one of my throws did not go far. That was because the ball slipped. But, Hoover was able to catch it!
And 'tis now time to give out the Kindness Award. This goes to Northern Lights, especially the people at the dog show. They all foster or have adopted a sleddog and continue to donate time to dogs. Keep it up!  And you can comment and tell your own act of kindness.

The Snow has Arrived!

Snow is nature's candy. A little is nice, a lot is quite enjoyable but too often a ton can be aggravating. Indiana was bombarded with snow. A good, dense blanket. I,honestly, am overjoyed with it! The dogs can play and bound with happiness. Everyone got to go out for a snowy walk. Nikita made sure she could trod with her friends.
Everything was peachy keen until the sleet replaced snow. So much for a winter wonderland. At least school was cancelled so that tells us the snow is still out there. Hoping for more snow overnight.

And now it is time to give out the awards! This week's recipient of "The Kind Acts" Award is my math teacher. You may be thinking, "What?" I'll explain.
My math teacher is the leader of a club called K-kids. They are a club at my school that helps the unfortunate. They will collect old t-shirts to make dog toys for the animal shelter and that is a kind act in my opinion.
Write acts of kindness you or someone else has done if you choose to on the comments.

Who watched the Super Bowl? I didn't! I went to a party and spent time with a friend. I saw the score sometimes, yet not often. I do know that the Seahawks clobbered the Broncos. Not an interesting game in my opinion. And for some reason, I have liked Russell Wilson ever since he has been in college. I guess it is because of his style of play.

And on the next post there may be sledding so stay tuned!

Lizzie's 12! Or 6?

Lizzie's another year older. Twelve or six, I don't know. Her records say she is turning 12 but she acts more like six years old. Anyway, we were able to celebrate Lizzie's birthday. She and her fellow packmates finally had the chance to have some ice cream! Hoover and Lizzie gobbled it up. Nikita took her time and savored the ice cream while the other dogs watched in anticipation.
Lizzie's present was a stuffed soccer ball. I don't think it will see dawn. Lizzie has been chewing it since she first saw it. Even Hoover is waiting for the perfect time to seize the toy. It is nice to have Lizzie's joyous barks. I'm glad we decided to adopt her.
But on other news, I have a sled dog act of heroism. This will be a new honor I give out to people or animals who show their love for others. So, back to the story. A pair of dog owners traveled over three states and 15 hours to rescue two old hound dogs. In a snowstorm I might add. They are great people and one of them is a great musician. He even wrote a wonderful song about his own dogs. I met them at a fabulous restaurant that is wonderful to just go in. I would like to give them the sled dog honor of the week! You are awesome Darra and Richard.

Attempting a Video Blog!

This week I am going to attempt to make a video blog. This video blog will be a bit of a draft since I have just started making videos, so, please bear with me. I need to learn to  hold the tablet more steadily. I also need to hold the tablet the same way when taping. I hope you don't get motion sickness. Mum wanted me to add we used a free app and could only do less than 30 second clips. I hope you enjoy as well. It sure was a blast taking the footage.
I'll get to the writing part of this blog. I'm excited to talk about the Puppy Bowl! Yet, the dogs that interests me the most is Suri and her friends Shyla and Hudson. They will be on the Puppy Bowl and I hope you look out for them. Suri is a Siberian Husky like Lizzie and Nikita. Hudson and Shyla are Great Pyrenees like Hoover, well we think he has Pyrenees in him. I hope you watch the Puppy Bowl and maybe stick around to watch the Super Bowl.
Have you been staying warm? I certainly have been, I have to stay in most of the time. We have had a lot of school delays. Even Hoover is limiting his time outside. He has been hogging Nikita's spot by the stairs. It's forced Nikita to find a new spot in the living room. It's nice to see the old girl. Stay tuned if you wish to see better videos in the future.

Really Not My Day

I goofed it up again. Another disastrous school spelling bee. I felt ready and confident, even 7th grade words but not 8th grade. I believed I had learned my lesson from last year, slow down. If you haven't guessed yet, I failed. I went up for my first word. There I looked at the crowd. Then I panicked. I felt nervous and flunked another spelling bee, yet again. "Limited." "Uh, limited. L-i-m-e-t-e-d. Limited." As the saying goes, if  at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I hope this doesn't happen thrice. I'm going for it again next year.
My luck still wasn't changing. Later in the day, a friend tried to hand me a piece of paper when he accidentally poked me in the eye with the corner of it. I had to go to the nurse's office and get some ice. The nurse told me I should tell my parents if my eye started to itch because I may have scratched my eye. Then I had to try to type with one hand while my other hand held the ice pack or only have one eye open. This really was not my day.
I hope all you dog lovers have better luck than me. I could really use a laugh. I hope you all enjoy this great video about a stubborn husky.
