It's about injuries, theater, bunnies, and brackets

One day I went to my grandmother's home. I was tired from reading a book and hyped up. So, to burn off some energy I picked up a Nerf gun I had brought along to use if I every got bored.
I wanted to burn off energy. Oh, did I tell you this Nerf gun could shoot rapidly? Well, any way, I gave my grandmother a Nerf gun which took a while to load. I learned a lesson from this. Grandmothers can't do Nerf battles. Apparently my Grandmother had a bad back and Nerf battles didn't help it. She now has a compressed fracture. Mom says it wasn't all Nerf guns but the war helped. So now I've injured my grandmother in a battle. I still say she can play but Mom says no more Nerf gun for a while.
Lizzie has had two people interested in her but so far none have taken her. My response is that I'm relieved that she is still with us. But now to talk about all the dogs. Lizzie likes Hoover, a lot! I'm not sure how Hoover likes Lizzie. He runs from her. When they play Lizzie yowls at Hoover to get him going but Hoover doesn't trust her. Though when Easter comes, I think the relationship may grow. Why I say that you ask? Well, maybe they will both catch a bunny right before Easter like Alue and Hoover did last year. I wonder about Easter egg hunting, too. Maybe they will both find an egg.
The fourth grade at my school every year does a play. It's called the Lorax. I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the Lorax. Though, if you haven't, it's a book about protecting the truffula trees. Which all end up getting chomped down, resulting in a bunch of creatures leaving their habitats.
My music teacher is directing the play. She has a blog of her own but I don't know the title of it. Her latest post should be about the Lorax. I don't know the date of which the play will start but I do know it should be around the last month of my school year. It would be nice if you would go to University Elementary school to see the play because we want to have a good turn out. But if you live in another town, state or country, I know you won't make it.  I don't think you have to pay to get in. I'll post when I know the date.
I'd like to congratulate the Hoosiers on a job well done for barely beating Temple. My mom  gets very excited when she is watching IU basketball. She is always texting with one of her friends. When IU hit that last 3, she jumped up and started jumping around. Do you think she can get a little excited during the IU games? Tomorrow's game I'm a bit afraid of because of the good team we are playing. But I'll say this, good luck Hoosiers! My bracket is depending on you. Too bad the game is so late, I'll miss most of it unless I can convince my mom to stay up.

My Spring Break Adventures

On my last blog I talked about the first days of Spring break. And I said I would talk about my spring break on this one. So, here it is.
First I went to a friends house. I was very excited and happy. In fact, I wolfed down a Jimmy Johns sub in about 2 minutes. I was going to spend the night. When I got to my friend's house we went downstairs to the basement and started with Lego Life. We each had our own army and characters. We each had a business. I had a garage and every 20 minutes I charged 5 Lego dollars. It was a good business. But my friend's brother's Lego shop was way better at business.
Soon my friend and I were playing a game. We were playing a video game. It was called War Hawk. I wasn't the best because the game ended 10 to 1. But there was another game I liked. My friend's brother taught me how to play another game called Dungeons and Dragons. This version is different than the real one because we didn't have the handbooks. I was pretty good because I had plundered a kingdom. My friend though, got ganged up by a bunch of soldiers. But any way it was very fun. I'm now interested in the real one.  My mom calls me a geek. Now I have a question for you. Have any of you played Dungeons and Dragons?
Then On Thursday I went to the Indiana History Center. There was some cool stuff. I liked how you could "go back in time" to meet some historical events in Indiana. The first was polio in 1955. There was a room that would have existed in the time of polio when they were shipping out antidotes. And the other exhibit was about Doctor Middleton. He was an African American doctor who couldn't work in a hospital. So he worked with his own money and in his own office. Unfortunately my parents signed me up for a shot. I hate shots. Fortunately I escaped before I got one.
And there was an Abe Lincoln exhibit. There were pictures and paragraphs about the Emancipation Proclamation. One I liked was a picture of an eagle on his nest and he had his claws grasped on the eggs that were capable of being attacked. And there were green eggs that were with the Confederacy. They said the name of the state but on two it also said rotten and bad.
During Spring break we celebrated Nikita's birthday. She is now 13. We gave the dogs a little bit of ice cream and a treat. Who do you think was done first? Veteran Nikita, Experienced Hoover, or Rookie Lizzie? Lizzie! She crammed it down. She was done long before the others.
The rest of my weekend was quiet. We watched IU win and lose (I'm sorry to say). Because they lost, we took Hoover for a walk on the B-line. Also, for bracket season, just like last year,  I'm going IU all the way! What about you?

Weekend Adventures

Hoover trying to hide
Today I shall blog about my weekend. Yes, it will have dogs and some non-dog stories. First off I shall tell a short tale about my dogs in the snow. School was closed and I went to play outside with Lizzie and Hoover. Lizzie barked and ran around  trying to get Hoover to run around with her. Instead he ran in terror of her. This carried on for awhile till Hoover came to Wiley's old doghouse. He fled inside it and lied down. Soon Lizzie came and Hoover ran out. But Lizzie did not pursue. She was sniffing the old doghouse. But Lizzie did not stay long. She gave chase again but Hoover stood his ground and the game was soon over.

Soccer practice
On Saturday I was going to a soccer practice that I wanted to do and my mom signed me up. I was a little nervous of how I would play. When I got there I discovered that there were not that many other kids. There was only 14 counting me. Our coach handed out t-shirts and my number was 130. Then she said we should shoot soccer balls, juggle, or dribble. What I did was walk around and think thoughts to myself of how I should play. And the other kids were shooting soccer balls or juggling. So that's what I did. Though it didn't last long. Soon we were called to play a game.
I was paired up with 3 other kids and we were the blue team. We were up against the red team. I felt a little intimidated. But soon I was beating people and I had a hat trick. We won 4 to 2. The next game I felt really energetic. This game, however, was harder. But we pulled it off and won 4 to 3.  And at the end of the practice we had a big game. I did not score a goal because I was on defense but I made good passes that helped us score.
On Sunday, Indiana University played basketball at Michigan. It was getting close to the end and I couldn't stand  to watch anymore so I went to the other room and watched something else. Soon I heard Mom yell and I rushed out the room. I looked at the TV and saw that IU had taken the lead. I got excited but Mom yelled, "Ian, get back in there! We might win!" I ran back to my room. I heard my Mom cheer.  I ran out again. I looked at the TV and saw we had won! Then mom and me jumped around and high fived. My grandma, on the other hand, just sat and stared at the screen. She is very energetic, isn't she?
But before the game we did something special. We went to the animal shelter. We visited the cat room and I found 2 special cats. The first was Lucille. She was in a room where she was practically alone. The other cats had fled to their litter boxes that were under objects.
Lucille
I sat down and Lucille walked around me and purred as she brushed up against me. Lucille walked onto my lap and stood on it for awhile. But I can't keep going on about one cat. I have to talk about the other cat. This was President Garfield. Now Garfield was...well, different. When I was petting him he put his rump up to my face. He did that a lot. But even though he stuck his butt in my face I'll always remember him.

After the cats we went to the dogs. There were many people and many dogs. There were also biscuits! I think some of those dogs put on a lot of weight. :) There was one dog out of many who caught my eye. He was Beluga, a Great Pyrenees mix and he sure did look like Hoover as a puppy in my opinion. Do you think so?

That is the beginning of my Spring break. Stay tuned for more.

Dog Stories and Presentation

Today's blog will be about dogs and my presentation. I'm sure you all know about my presentation. If you don't know about it I will give you a quick summary.
The reason I haven't been blogging is because my teacher assigned me this huge project about creating a settlement and I did a PowerPoint. I thought it would be quick. But really it took me a long time. But I got it done. Now it is time for the real story.
When I got to school I had my flash drive, a portrait, a map, a collage, and a picture. That was what I created for my visuals. It was Monday, the day we had to turn in our work. Six people had already signed up. And I had decided to wait until Tuesday. But then my teacher asked me to present. This was my response: "Uhhhh.... um....(cough)." She got the idea I didn't want to do it. Though later on one of the presenters said that they couldn't do it. So I was asked again and this time I accepted.
Later on in math I was starting to get nervous. I kept on thinking about all of the kids looking at me and if I did something wrong they might laugh or get bored. The time came and the music played (literally, there was music in my PowerPoint). I spoke through each slide and soon enough it was all over. I had felt nervous while I was presenting but after I felt (What do you think I will say?) Post your answer on the comments and then read on to see if you the got the right answer. A: Nervous B: Relieved C: Happy to be done D: All of the above)

____________________________________________________________________
Nervous, relived, and happy to be done. I did really enjoy doing the settlement project. The video of my PowerPoint didn't turn out very well because my mom's computer has a virus and she had to use my dad's old computer with old software. Plus, she wanted to watch the IU game.
 .
Now for Lizzie. She is said to be 11 years old. I don't think so. My proof: She is playing with toys and chasing Hoover. She steals Hoover's toys and lays with them. But one particular toy is the cow that goes moo! Hoover never really liked it. In fact, Hoover would run away! We were experimenting with toys when we found the cow and made it go moo! Lizzie stared at him for a second then took the cow from Mom and started chewing it and waving the toy in the air. And every time that cow  went moo, she would attack him like a young pup. She even now hides that poor cow by her food bowl. So, do you think she is 11?
