The Wheels on the Bus Almost Fell Off
Mum and I had an exciting adventure on Friday. Maybe a little too exciting at one point. For anyone that doesn't know what we did, we rode the city bus. It was a new experience. Everything started off fine. We were picked up close to our house. We had to bus hop to get to mum's work. Unfortunately, our first drop off was next to an adult store. I was thinking this wasn't the best place to be waiting for a bus. We finally got to mum's office about an hour after we left our house. It is normally about a five minute drive.
After a few hours at work, we went to our next bus stop. Mum didn't want to miss the bus so we arrived about 20 minutes early. To past time we played silly games. The bus finally arrived and we rode it through campus and got dropped off by the IU Union. Unfortunately, we missed the next bus. Mum saw it, but she realized too late it was the bus we should have boarded. So, we decided to mall walk to the transit center. This is where it gets exciting. We took our next bus to the animal shelter. Along the way we went up and down several streets. As we got closer to the shelter, mum pulled the cord to alert the bus driver we wanted off at the next stop. As we were getting up, the bus shook pretty hard. It caused mum to stumble and I fell back into my seat. At first we thought the bus driver had taken his foot off the brake, but we realized as we stepped off the bus a car had ran
into the bus! The bus didn't look look damaged, but the car took a beating.
After all that excitement, we made it to the animal shelter. We met some wonderful dogs and cats. One of the awesome dogs we met was Marley. Marley is a shepherd/pyrenees mix about 11 months old. She is a shy girl. Hopefully she will find a good home that will take good care of her.
I have to confess, we decided to call dad to give us a ride to the Chocolate Moose. We had attracted to much attention on the bus and wanted to lay low for a bit. After a delicious ice cream sandwich, I was feeling quite good again. We were going to finish our day with a bus ride home. We hung out at the transit center for several minutes before the bus arrived. We went all through campus again and finally ended up at our home base. I will remember this adventure for the rest of my life and tell my kids about it.
I told you in the last blog I would be going to the IU soccer camp. IU soccer camp was a blast! I must say the food there was scrumptious! I was able to have bacon everyday! Mum was horrified when she heard that. Of course IU soccer camp isn't about the food, it's about the soccer...and playing cards. It was great fun playing soccer with some of my teammates. In our off time, it was great fun playing cards with them, too. It was all topped off with world cup tourney. My team pulled a three seed upset over the number one seed to win the championship. But really, it was all just for fun and we had a great time playing in the mud. I'm definitely doing IU soccer camp again.
As we try to save the planet for your generation, Ian, public transportation will be more important than ever. I'm glad you had a good, long taste of bus-riding, but I hope you'll use it even more in the future - just for shorter times! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It was so fun to read about it and see the pictures.
ReplyDeleteAlso, congratulations for scoring daily bacon at Soccer Camp! ~_^
