Hello to all you animal lovers. This blog will be a short one. These next two weeks I'm going to be busy working on a project. Last year I also gave a post like this. I was making my own settlement in Indiana. This year I'm working on a colony. The name of my colony is Mattville. Any other information shall be shared on my next post. I'll tell you something though. I am attempting to go above and beyond on this project. The more content the merrier! Now it's time for the Acts of Kindness award. Northern Lights has seven new puppies! They're adorable yet they are a handful. This award goes to the woman taking care of those pups. Keep it up! Hoover was born in rescue, he and his 11 siblings were called the "Dirty Dozen." I wonder if these pups have a nickname? The mom and puppies will be available for adoption.
As I leave, I ask you a question to dwell on: does your dog feel shameful? I'm not so sure about Nikita.
Wild Westley, strong enough to take an Ian down. Mum and I were venturing to the animal shelter on Sunday to see the husky Baloo. We had found him and were deciding on whether to take him outside in the snow or not. Then, a volunteer came forth and told us Baloo was going to be adopted that afternoon! The new owners were even filling out papers. So, we decided to take Westley out, a Sheperd mix who was a year old. Big mistake. This was my Mum's bright idea. We took Wes out to an enclosure. Unfortunately, it was a smaller one. As soon as we got in the enclosure, Wes took off like a kid on Christmas morning. He enjoyed going after me. Westley would go for my ankles and I came crashing to the ground with Westley jumping on me. This happened more than once. I was covered in snow. Mom couldn't take a picture for she was crying so hard from laughing. Wes was also a showoff. Westley found a tennis ball and wouldn't let a soul get it. He even went after my ankles with it! Westley is a very exuberant young dog that is going to need a VERY large yard. He is a friendly chap! Here in Indiana, we got a good amount of snow over the weekend. Enough to go sledding! I even got to practice my skeleton. This video will tell you how well I did. It's not as easy as it looks.
And there was enough snow for the dogs to go on a walk. Lizzie was her usual bossy self, Hoover with his own happy grin, and Nikita, was surprisingly nimble that day. A sight to see.
And this weeks Acts of Kindness award goes to Gus Kenworthy. This skier will not only bring home silver, but also some puppies. I'm a little late with the news, I'm sure you have heard of him by now. Gus has inspired other Olympians to adopt stray dogs. Even they may inspire others to adopt. There are plenty of cats and dogs that need homes.
If you haven't read the title yet, this post will be filled with dogs and one small mishap that hurts to this day. We decided to go to a dog show. The event was quite enjoyable. I for one felt quite overwhelmed. "Dachshund! Newfoundland! Akita! Greyhounds!" I did this most of the time.
Dogs were plentiful, and booth's numerous. There were dogs Nikita could swallow and some who could look down on Hoover. The dog show was somewhat exciting (talking action).
Along the way we stumbled into the Northern Lights group with some adopted sled dogs. That was probably my favorite area. I got to meet Lucy, a great wooly like Sebastian (A previous foster). She was all tuckered out yet still liked to be stroked. She had friends who had been adopted like her. Allie, Axle, Caesar, and Mishka were their names.
And the dog show had some hilarious moments too. There was a poodle who didn't like his appearance. I wonder how many dogs snickered at him whilst passing by. I did kind of feel bad for the poodle. And a dog show winner gloated by rolling on the rug and showing his underbelly.
Now for the embarrassing part. We arrived at soccer earlier in the day. I got out of the car and was walking out of the parking lot when I slipped on some ice for I was wearing cleats. I fell on my bottom and cushioned my fall by using my elbow as leverage. I jumped up, hopped around, and fell on the ground again. Yet I was still able to play a game of soccer. I still have a sore bottom and elbow but I'll pull through. And to add to all this fun, it snowed! Check out our video to see how much fun we had. And to clarify something in the video, one of my throws did not go far. That was because the ball slipped. But, Hoover was able to catch it!
And 'tis now time to give out the Kindness Award. This goes to Northern Lights, especially the people at the dog show. They all foster or have adopted a sleddog and continue to donate time to dogs. Keep it up! And you can comment and tell your own act of kindness.
Snow is nature's candy. A little is nice, a lot is quite enjoyable but too often a ton can be aggravating. Indiana was bombarded with snow. A good, dense blanket. I,honestly, am overjoyed with it! The dogs can play and bound with happiness. Everyone got to go out for a snowy walk. Nikita made sure she could trod with her friends. Everything was peachy keen until the sleet replaced snow. So much for a winter wonderland. At least school was cancelled so that tells us the snow is still out there. Hoping for more snow overnight. And now it is time to give out the awards! This week's recipient of "The Kind Acts" Award is my math teacher. You may be thinking, "What?" I'll explain. My math teacher is the leader of a club called K-kids. They are a club at my school that helps the unfortunate. They will collect old t-shirts to make dog toys for the animal shelter and that is a kind act in my opinion. Write acts of kindness you or someone else has done if you choose to on the comments. Who watched the Super Bowl? I didn't! I went to a party and spent time with a friend. I saw the score sometimes, yet not often. I do know that the Seahawks clobbered the Broncos. Not an interesting game in my opinion. And for some reason, I have liked Russell Wilson ever since he has been in college. I guess it is because of his style of play. And on the next post there may be sledding so stay tuned!
